
Medical Intensive Care Unit
Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) is a critical care unit specializing in the care of patients with pulmonary, gastrointestinal, renal, infectious disease, hematologic, endocrine or neurologic illnesses which require intensive care treatment. Common procedures and treatments include ventilator management, ventilator weaning, continuous renal replacement therapy and various bedside procedures. The age of the patients served by MICU range from adolescent to geriatric.
The staff of MICU is BCLS and ACLS certified. They are trained in the use of many advanced state-of-the-art pieces of equipment.
MICU is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We can be reached by phoning 205-592-5300.
Visiting hours for MICU are at set times to allow our patients to rest and recover. Visiting hours are: 8AM, 12 Noon, 5PM, and 8PM for one hour at each time. Visitors are limited to immediate family members; we ask that only 2 visitors are allowed at a time. Children under the age of 12 are generally not permitted.
