Emergency Services
The Emergency Department at Trinity Medical Center is designated as a Level III Trauma Center and Stroke Center. The 18-bed unit is fully equipped to manage any emergency injury or illness for all age groups.
Our Emergency Department team strives for excellence in the services we provide and patient satisfaction is our primary goal. Our staff takes great pride in treating patients as if they were their own family.

State-of-the-art cardiac monitors and diagnostic capabilities Beside sonography for rapid diagnostic procedures Specially equipped rooms for OB/GYN, ENT, Ophthalmologic, Orthopedic and Psychiatric Emergencies
Other services available 24 hours a day, seven days a week include:
Surgical suites and cardiac catheterization laboratories Full service laboratory X-ray services including CT Scan, MRI, and Ultrasound
Our Team
The Emergency Department is staffed with board certified/experienced emergency doctors rigorously trained to handle acute and life threatening conditions. These doctors are supported by a full staff of registered nurses certified and experienced in Advance Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advance Life Support and Trauma Nursing. The team is dedicated to standards set by the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) and the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA). Our physicians and nurses hold leadership positions in both of these organizations at the local, state and national levels.
Physicians specializing in OB/GYN, pediatrics, orthopedics, neurosurgery, plastic surgery, ENT, psychiatry, cardiovascular medicine, cardiothoracic surgery, ophthalmology, general surgery, dermatology and gastroenterology are readily available to provide emergency care and/or follow-up treatment as needed.
Trinity's emergency physicians are fully trained in pediatric emergency medicine and enjoy a collaborative relationship with Children’s Hospital for pediatric illnesses and injuries that require specialty treatment or surgery.
Emergency Preparedness
The Emergency Department is a leader in the development of emergency preparedness plans and training. Trinity Medical Center participates in the National Disaster Medical System. Our staff routinely participates in state, county and city-wide drills. Staff also serve on multiple committees within the city and county as well as on the Birmingham Regional Emergency Medical Services System Steering Committee and the City of Birmingham Emergency Medical Services Advisory Committee.
