Education
Trinity Medical Center Department of Education's mission is to promote continuous quality improvement by developing employee competency through orientation, staff development, and continuing education. The Education Department is located on the second floor of the School of Nursing Building directly across from the hospital. We provide a variety of classes for our employees throughout the year. These classes are posted on the Education Bulletin Board which is located in the hallway across from the cafeteria on first floor of the main hospital. Many of our classes are also available for those that are not employees of Trinity. The bulletin board also has flyers posted for other classes in the Birmingham area. Trinity's Education Department is an approved provider of continuing education for nurses by the Alabama Board of Nursing.
Our facility has an Extended Orientation Program for new graduate RNs. This program includes a wide variety of didactic classes along with the clinical orientation on the nursing unit. These classes are held in the Education Department. We have the NetLearning Computer Program at our facility which allows employees to register for classes, enroll in computer based learning modules, and print their individual transcript of courses they have taken. In addition to NetLearning, all nurses employed at Trinity benefit from having free access to the CE Direct Program through Nursing Spectrum. They can take online courses at home or at work at no charge, and they can print their certificates to use when it is time for license renewal.
Jan Gannon, Trinity's CNO, and Dr. Sara Barger, Dean of the Capstone School of Nursing at the University of Alabama, recently signed a partnership to provide an on-line RN to BSN/MSN Program for nurses employed at Trinity. If you have questions about the Mobility Program, please contact Lourena Richardson at 205-348-3074 or email her at lrichard@bama.ua.edu.
Please feel free to contact the Trinity Education Department at 205-592-5047 for inquiries regarding our classes.
