Coronary Care Unit (CCU)
Coronary Care Unit (CCU) is a critical care unit specializing in acute cardiac illnesses. These may include acute myocardial infarction, congestive heart failure, unstable angina and cardiac dysrhythmias. Some common procedures or services offered on the unit include pre/post cardiac catheterization care, temporary cardiac pacing, intra-aortic balloon pump, ventilator management and continuous renal replacement therapy.
The age of the patients served by CCU range from adolescent to geriatric.
The staff of CCU is BCLS and ACLS certified. They are trained in the use of many advanced state-of-the-art pieces of equipment.
CCU is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We can be reached by calling 205-592-5200.
Visiting hours for CCU are at set times to allow our patients to rest and recover. They are: 8:30AM, 12:30PM, 5:30PM, and 8:30PM for thirty minutes at each time. Visitors are limited to immediate family members and we ask that only 2 members visit at a time. Children under the age of 12 are generally not permitted.
