BIRMINGHAM, Alabama (November 1, 2007) – Breast cancer awareness is a year-round topic at Women’s Health Boutique (WHB). WHB at Trinity Medical Center will host two seminars, “Lymphedema Can Be Managed” on Thursday, November 8, and “Non-Surgical Breast Reconstruction” on Friday, November 9. Both seminars will be held from noon-1 pm and will include a complimentary light lunch.. Vicki Dortch Jones, owner of Women’s Health Boutique in Longview, Texas, will be the guest speaker. Jones is also the founder of WHB, a national franchise with locations in California, Michigan, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Oklahoma, Texas and Alabama.
"We want customers to feel confident in coming to Women’s Health Boutique to learn about issues that are important to the well-being of breast cancer survivors,” said Jones. “We want women to know that we are here for support long after Breast Cancer Awareness month is over.”
Seminar attendees will learn to combine exercise, compression, manual massage techniques and pump therapy for long-term management of post-mastectomy lymphedema in Thursday’s seminar. A video and breast prosthesis casting demonstration will be held on Friday.
"Those who attend Friday’s session can learn about a revolutionary custom breast prosthesis that is covered by most insurance carriers,” said Joann McDonald, manager of WHB at Trinity Medical Center and a licensed cosmetologist.
WHB is focused on educating its customers. In July, the store hosted a “Look Good…Feel Better” seminar, sponsored by the American Cancer Society and the Cosmetic, Toiletry and Fragrance Association (CTFA) that included a 12-step program and makeover for cancer patients who are undergoing treatment.
