Trinity Medical Center Announces the Arrival of the Newest Technology in Surgery Today: da Vinci® Siä Surgical System
BIRMINGHAM, AL – Trinity Medical Center has acquired the latest version of the da Vinci Robotic System making it the first community-based hospital in Birmingham to house the da Vinci® Siä Surgical System. Trinity also became the first hospital in Alabama, and one of only three in the Southeast, to have FIREFLY technology, allowing for fluorescent imaging with this system.
This particular robotic system has several unique features designed to provide additional clinical benefits and efficiency in the operating room, many of which translate to patient benefits.
Among the features of the da Vinci Si are: enhanced 3D, high-definition vision of operative field; superior visual clarity of tissue and anatomy; and, surgical dexterity and precision far greater than even the human hand.
In addition to the new system, Trinity purchased a robotic simulator becoming the first community-based hospital in Alabama to acquire one outside of a university setting. Not only is the simulator a great teaching device, it also allows surgeons the opportunity to perfect their skills.
All of these technological advancements provide our surgeons with unparalleled precision, dexterity and control that enable a minimally invasive approach for many complex surgical procedures. "We believe that this new system will help us provide the best possible outcomes and is proof of our commitment to provide our community access to the latest advancements in minimally invasive surgery," said L. Keith Granger, President and CEO of Trinity Medical Center.
da Vinci’s advanced level of technology takes surgery beyond the limits of the human hand. This acquisition complements Trinity’s goal of extending minimally invasive surgery to the broadest possible base of patients. It can be used for a multitude of procedures including, but not limited to, prostatectomy, hysterectomy, myomectomy, coronary artery bypass, mitral valve repair, gastric bypass, thoracic surgery and colorectal surgery.
